Bean Soup A La Horvath

I enjoy reading cookbooks which tell stories but I rarely try the recipes.  This evening I made a bean soup with homemade egg noodles roughly based off a recipe in Joanne Dean’s Historical San Bernardino Cookbook.  I made some modifications, such as using half rye flour in the noodles and not mashing the beans into a casserole, but it was still close to the 1930s original.


It wasn’t the most colourful of dishes, with all that brown, so I served it with some bright roasted vegetables.
